Fields School #2 in the background on Root Rd, North Ridgeville. In the foreground on Butternut Ridge Rd (Lorain Rd) is Worcester Hatchery. Both are still there although the elementary school is now the Fields-Sweet preschool.
That's my childhood home (8455 and my grandparents home and us our family business celebrating Earth 93rd year in business .WORCESTER'S . My grandparents home the brick ranch next to the store in the right lower corner 34180 Lorain road.(John & Esther Worcester) . The store is 34200 Lorain Road near the intersection of Root Road. This business began in 1926 on John's family farm on Chesnut Ridge until a devastating fire leveled the original three story Hatchery in 1943. The Lorain Road store and 26 acre's of farm land were for sale a short distance away and on State Rout 10, a move was made here at that time. Son Delbert and his wife Shirley started the power equipment business about1952 in addition to Grampa's Feed Store & Hatchery, Seed & fertilizer.
It's a nice place, I was there just a few weeks ago for wildlife food.
I went to elementary school at Fields 1956-1961. Also, my husband, Donald Garrett, lived in Worcester’s basement back about 1968 or so. We knew them quite well and bought produce there. Such good memories, North Ridgeville is my home.
