I think this is Krespach's Machine Shop. North side of Butternut Ridge Rd just east of where the dead end is today. Removed when Rt 10 was built.

This property was built (1958) & owned by my parents Ed & Ethel Cropp. They operated a trucking company. This property was taken by the State in early 70's for the new Route 10. House is now located on Chestnut Ridge & the garage was torn down.

Thanks for the update. This area is so tough to research because it was all disrupted in the 1960s when Rt 57 was built and then again when Rt 10 was built. The only directories are from 1948 and 1954 so your father's place was not listed in 1954. There were two business listed in this area in 1954 - Krespach's on the north side and Faulkner & Sons Welding on the south. There are high altitude aerials from numerous years and this property stands out really nice in the 1962 aerial. There were a bunch of tractor trailers in the parking lot.

I see this is two houses to the west of that huge barn that was just torn down last month. Do you know who lived there in the 1950s? That would help to locate the other properties in the area.

This property had been a farm before my parents purchased it. They were the only owners until the
state bought it. The pond was dug to fill the area where the garage and parking lot is. The small
piece of land at the lower left was not part of this purchase. There was a house and garage on it.
My parents bought this small property at a later date and tore it down as the picture shows.
In time before this, maybe this was the welding shop. It was not a welding shop before or after my
parents purchased this small piece of land.

On my earlier reply I said welding shop, should have been machine shop.

I know the first house east of my parents house was owned by William & Emily Meltzer. The house east of Meltzer, I do remember, but don't know the name/owner.
