This old structure on Parsons Rd has been puzzling me, it looks too formal for a farm, more like a small company or motel. It had been deserted for decades in this 1969 photo, and gone by the late 1970s. This entire plot of land has been bare since then. But I located a similar building in Erie County, photo 007-SER-03 that is identified as a chicken house. Will update if I find out otherwise.
I managed to find an ad for this property when it was for sale in 1945. The building is described as a 150 x 40 foot, 2 story brick chicken house.
Remember Parsons Road was laid over the old switcher track where all the farmers took their goods to meet the train. A lot of large Farm Businesses were on those tracks including the Mill down by the river, n the Depot Down Town Oberlin.
jb-, if you wander by here some time could you expand on the "switcher track". I've talked to my railroad friends who know the area well and they don't know any evidence of RR tracks along Parsons Rd. Nothing shows on the old maps.
