Mel Holmes farm on the south side of Jones Rd just west of Hawley Rd, Wellington. The Holmes moved here in 1942 shortly after they married, buying the property from Mrs Rae Rice Johnson. The entire 247 acres is planted in corn, soybeans and wheat. They had been raising some dairy cows until the early 1950s. Another large barn was shown in the 1956 article but has been removed by this photo. The farm looks about the same today.
