North Bloomfield - colonial tavern - SR 87 & SR 45
On the left is the Colonial Tavern, previously known as "The Elms" in the 1940s. The Colonial was known as the Twin to Brownwood across the street because previous to the two front additions it was the same architecture as the 1819 Brownwood home. To the right of the Colonial was "Chappy's Service Station". It was owned at one time by Bristol Oil & Gas. Facing route 87 was Paden's Garage. Labor Day, 1973 and explosion occurred at the Colonial with a resulting fire that burned down the entire corner as shown.
