Since at least 1960, this property has been known as "Twirly Top", an ice cream parlor. It is at 1 Pine Grove Road in Dickinson Township, PA. In 2019 it is owned by Sarah Keckler. The house behind is 4506 Carlisle Road, AKA Rt. 34. It is owned by Justin & April Brymesser.

I think the Taylor's use to live there and owned Twirly Top.

I took my wife of soon to be 55 years there for burgers on our first date. My niece owned the business for several years long after that. Once she sees the photo, she will probably supply a lot more history.

My husband and I currently own Twirly Top. We restored the arch to the top of the building in 2017- it was not on the building when I bought it in2013 and no one seemed to know what happened to it. I purchased from Rhoads sisters who purchased from Linda Sewell Mowery who obtained it from her parents, Alice and Fred Sedell, who I believe purchased it from The Runks, who purchased it from the Taylors (Mildred and Shorty-Mildred was a Rice, and had several brothers involved in fruit and produce business in the area (two of my siblings currently own farms that were owned by Rice brothers, Harold and Ralph, in particular, who were brothers to Mildred). The earliest date we can find from documents found at the shop indicates the Twirly Top first opened for business in 1952. The Taylors built Twirly Top and the house behind it where they resided, I believe until they passed away.

I have been going to Twirly top since the early 60's. My family would go on picnics at Laurel Lake and stop there. Now my husband and I camp in the area and stop whenever we are near there. Sometimes we make a special trip just to go to Twirly Top and visit the lakes. We love the food and the area.
