So many wonderful memories of the homestead...
God bless Hessie and Poppie for their courage sending five beloved sons to the battlefront in WWII. Amazing too that those who stayed behind could keep the farm together and benefit the Waynesboro community in ways that still are meaningful today. The Hess Family comes from a heritage to be proud of. Thank you, Danny and Becky, for keeping Hessie and Poppie's homestead and dreams for the future alive. Thank you, Jim and Debbie, and everyone "on the lane" for the continuity you provide. I am proud to be a Hess!

In the 1950s I spend every summer and Christmas holidays on the farm with Hessie, Poppie and my aunts and uncles. I have so many great memories of learning from them, cooking, farming, gardening, etc. I was so fortunate to have so much time with all of them.

As the youngest of this Hess family, I spent many happy years in this home. Had wonderful parents and brothers and sisters. We moved from the farm to our home across the road when I was 17 Years old. Lived there until I married in 1956. Many happy memories.

As the third oldest of Hessie and Poppie's grandchildren, I spent plenty of time at the old farmstead. I have many memories there, including getting lost in that cornfield (in the forefront) while heading to the new home Dad was building across the road when I was only 3. The barn and the big trees are now gone, but my Hess cousins and my heart still inhabit the home.
