I currently own this farmhouse. For years it belonged to Mr Roche who owned this farm which stretched a mile along that side of Route 18 (Park Avenue). He began selling lots along 18 for people to build homes. My parents bought a lot from him in the 60's and built their home. Mrs. Lopez who lives across the street tells that on summer evenings you would see the family which consisted of a few sons and one daughter sitting on the front porch and you'd hear their laughter carrying across the valley. I became acquainted with the daughter, Martha. She lived in a trailer beside the farmhouse there would be times that she became disoriented and I'd find her wondering through my home, but that was OK because as far as I was concerned it was still her home too. She told me that when her father bought the farmhouse she was just a young girl and there was no cellar under the house so he hired a crew to hand dig it out, they dug out 3 huge rooms. The farmhouse now has only 2 1/2 acres with it, the remaining farm land was purchased by Mr. Beighley who built Franklin Manor, a single home housing development.
