This approximate address was 108 W. Northwest Highway, Grapevine, TX (near the intersection of Northwest Hwy. and Main Street). On the left is Willingham’s Mobil Station. It was opened by Henry Willingham in 1935. The buildings to the right of the service station housed many different businesses. One was a restaurant owned by Sam Faglie. Dr. Bill Wilkerson’s dental office, Lillie McKinnon Real Estate, Grapevine TV Service, Clark Food Store, and B. J.’s Discount Shoes all occupied these buildings over the years. There was a fire in the middle building in 1967. All of these buildings were razed in 1976 to build a Safeway Store. The Safeway later became Elliott’s Hardware. That building was replaced by Bank of the West which still occupies this location at the intersection of Main and Northwest Highway. This intersection has been reconfigured somewhat since this photo was taken.
In the lower right corner was "Dude's Drive-In." It was a popular high school hangout in Grapevine in the 50s and 60s.
