This was Archie and Mabel (Pruitt) Martin’s house, they had moved long before this photo was taken. There would be no random abandoned cars around when they lived there, the place was always kept incredibly clean and clutter free. They built the house in 73 when they moved back to the county from Richmond VA a few years after Archie retired from the Air Force. Archie traded a parcel of land for the materials and labor to build the house. They lived there until the 1980s when their son went to Virginia Tech. The families all lived within a couple of miles of each other, it was common for three and sometimes four generations to be within walking distance.
