This is where I worked throughout my high school years, LE Hicks and Reva Mae Hicks were the owners, they had one son Terry Dewight. Mrs Della Rymer was the owner and her store had an apartment above it which her son Willam R Rymer and his wife Pauline lived for a short time.

Hello Jerry,
What was your job here? What did they sell in their store?

My job there was pumping gas, checking oil, fixing flats, greasing cars and trucks, cleaning the garage as well as sweeping the parking lot. Also shoveling snow in the winter as well as mowing their lawn in summer.
Mrs Rymer store sold canned food, also sliced lunch meat & Cheese , she also sold work pants, shirts, and various styles of shoes. And she also had a public telephone which was the only phone in our community, it was the type where you had to crank until the operator answered and she would connect you to your party, “ she sometimes would listen to your conversation, in fact most of the time”. and you would hear the person making the call tell Mrs. Emmer Tacket to get on the call, she was the operator at Griffithsville WV. Times have certainly changed.
