Sand Bar, Driftwood in 78
Stillson Creek portion of Lake Wissota. The Driftwood tavern was owned by Rolf Chance at this time.
Hi Cliff,
Is Driftwood Traven or it's building still there today? Does this area look different 44 years later?
Alexis,
I don't live there anymore, but on my last visit there in summer 2021, I believe the building was still operating as a tavern. The road behind it along the lake was gone, and there were many more housing tracts in the former farm fields.
Alexis
The bar is still there and is called the "Sand Bar".
In the 60s, it was Hartmann's, not sure of the spelling. I remember they served great hamburgers there then. Sometimes they offered venison burgers. It was a nice family place. When Rolf Chance purchased it, he turned it into a strip club.
