If I'm not mistaken, this is the front gate to the Mill Creek Hunt Club (riding to hounds) on Hunt Club Road.

Old Mill Creek Hunt Club designed by David Adler who was a member of the club. Home of the Old Mill Creek Hunt Club.

Mill Creek Hunt Club is located on Hunt Club Road in Newport Township, north of Gurnee and just south of Millburn Rd. The curved section of the stable (photo) located on the left side of the entrance has since been destroyed by fire and no longer exists.

In 1897, the Mill Creek Hunt was started by the Onwentsia Club from Lake Forest, IL. In 1928, land was purchased along Hunt Club Rd. for the proposed Mill Creek Hunt Club. In 1930, the Mill Creek Hunt Club was organized from some members of the Onwentsia Club and the elaborate stables and kennels were near completion with a clubhouse to be constructed in 1931. James Simpson, president of Marshall Field and Co. purchased 500 acres adjoining west of the Mill Creek Hunt Club to be used also for club hunts. In 1931, the group officially broke from the Onwentsia club and started the Millburn club and in 1933, changed the name to the Mill Creek Hunt Club.
