This property is located off the Rte. 12 ramp from Rte. 176 (Liberty St.) in Wauconda. It was owned by Dr. Raphael Martin Adelman (1915-1988) a local family physician. At the top of the photo going across is Slocum Lake Rd. There is another house to the left just outside the photo. The Adelman property along with the Wauconda Little League field (located to the right out of the photo) became the Liberty Square Shopping Center in 1987, which is where Jewel-Osco and the U.S. Post Office is now located off of Brown St.
In front (west) of the antique barn is the embankment for the Route 12 overpass over Route 176. In the chase scene at the end of the movie "The Blues Brothers" there are state police cars that skid off the road down an embankment. It was filmed here.
