Located in Nunda Township on the southeast corner of Green St. (formerly Barreville Rd) near Bull Valley Rd in the City of McHenry, Edmund "Edward" Knox settled on this property when arriving from Ireland in 1851. His spouse was Mary (Doherty) Knox. His son, Edmund Knox, Jr. (1851-1933) operated the farm for many years. Edwin Vincent Knox (1889-1979), the third generation of the Knox family, farmed the 120 acre land. Today, the property is owned by the City of McHenry and directly across the street from the McHenry city hall and police department.
