The Central Wastewater Treatment Plant along the Fox River at 7.2 acre site located at 3302 Waukegan Rd. began in 1950 also contains a marina. The treatment plant was decommissioned in 2018 after the completion of the McHenry Waste Water Treatment Plant located off of Charles J. Miller Rd. was completed. The city is currently seeking proposals for redevelopment of the property. To the left of the treatment plans is the D's Marine Service, Inc. building located at 3308 Waukegan Rd. In the late 1950s through late 1970s, Robert G. Bruce (1911-1978), owner of the Bruce Marine Service operated here. By the late 1980s the building was occupied by D's Marine Service.

My Dad was Robert G. Bruce. He started building the marina in 1946. My parents built a gray brick ranch house (now demolished I understand) just down the street. I have pictures of when the original part of Bruce Marine was being built. Don't know if anyone would be interested in the pics or copies of them. Want to correct this writeup by saying it was started in the middle to late 40's.
