This is Philadelphia Christian Church, one of the county's oldest churches. It is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of S Co Rd 700 E and E Co Rd 500 S. It was the church of my grandparents S. Glen and Sylvia Johnson who lived on S Co Rd 800 E. The church was built on land donated by the original land owner (who had purchased the virgin land from the federal government in the 1830's). I have that information stashed away somewhere!

For more information as well as a different angle of view, go to Roll 525-ADE-10. This view however, shows a small architectural feature dedicated to my uncle Homer Conwell given by his wife Mary Ellen following his death. Prior to the gift, the main entrance to the left of the bell "tower" was open. It is now enclosed and tastefully integrated into the building, providing a comfortable vestibule for worshipers. Homer was a brother to my grandma Sylvia Johnson. Like my grandma, he was exceptionally dedicated to the church, often serving as a song leader with his authoritative voice.
