I grew up on this farm. It has always been a beautiful farm, with so many lakes and oak trees surrounding it. It was one of the first homesteads in Elk Lake Township, settled by Peder Gran in the 1860's. My father, Gordon J. Leraas, purchased it in the late 1950's and farmed it for over 40 years. My parents built a new home in 1978, and the old house can still be seen on the photo and was torn down later. Sadly, the barn and most of the original out buildings are gone. Only the small pump house remains, but was moved into the woods. After my father's death, my sister and I, along with my husband, bought the farm site from my siblings. We recently added onto the ranch-style home, hence the yard is still not planted on the current satellite photo. The oak trees hide so much of the yard in the photos. I have photos of the old house, and I treasure the memories made there.
