Overlooking 4169 State Route 521 facing NNW. Skinner Rd now comes to dead end directly across from white house, making Skinner Rd straighter, when paved. (In photo curve of Skinner Rd is barely seen @ bottom left). Crossing St Rt 521 from Skinner Rd in photo goes back to old barns - now gone & land farmed. House & barns on North (top) side of road now owned by Boyer’s - purchased from original homesteaders family - Sheet’s. House interior still has original wood floors, woodwork & most of old floor plan. In photo, summer kitchen small white building to R of house. Next, long narrow building originally the “smithy” but now used as garage. All other structures still in use except open small barn across the street is gone. Land & large barn on lower side of photo (South of road) purchased by Skinner family from homestead family - Sheets. St Rt 521 was originally only a path into Delaware, ridden by horse or walked (approx 7 mile into Delaware). Barn on North side of road was originally a bank barn until St Rt 521 was cut through, and the barn given a concrete block base. Original homesteaders farmed grain fields with mules, aplus raising sheep and hogs for income. For themselves had large family garden with couple milk cows. The Sheets family (homesteaders) is still prevelant & active in the county. The Skinner family just celebrated their 100th year farming, now 4 generations, & is one of the largest family owned grain farms in Ohio
