at 224 and 61 New Haven
The SW corner. Today it is Wallhead Auto. Here is Mary Restaurant across the street in 1964:

The SW corner of Rt 224 and Rt 598/61 in New Haven. In 1950 this looked a lot different. Rt 598 and Rt 61 did not connect together south of Rt 224, they both intersected separately. That dirt path you can see heading behind the gas station is old Rt 598. There were two businesses here. In the corner was the Points Market. And just to the right of this photo was the Garden of Eat'N Restaurant. That is my new favorite restaurant name!
An advertisement from 1934 declared, "Go to all the Taverns, Inns, The Gables and what you? Then go to the Garden of Eat'N. Dine and Dance amid real food, real linen and real service with a smile! No Chop Suey! No spaghetti! Steak, chicken and chops to order."
Here is a link to an early aerial photo showing New Haven back then.
