Rajahland campground and swimming park on the north side of Portman Rd west of Peasley Rd, Amherst. It opened in the summer of 1971, created by Rolland and John Angersbach who lived a bit further east on Portman Rd. Their old farm is still there. This photo shows the Super Shute, a 40 foot tall, 350 foot long water slide that was added later.
The park is still there as Timber Ridge Campgrounds, although the Super Shute is gone - replaced by additional campsites.
My grandparents (Stuber) moved across the street around that same time. Nikki Claybaugh (Emmerich granddaughter) and I spent lots of time at the waterslide!
