This property overlooks Ferry Creek and has lovely views of the Piankatank River. It now has a large deck that runs across the back of the house, a sunroom addition facing the pool and a large 3-story addition added when the home became a full-time residence for the owner's daughter and her five children, three of whom are triplets. The kids are grown and gone, but still bring their children over to swim in the pool, fish off the dock, pick crab on the deck and play on "Mimi's" swing set. Dr. and Mrs. Bell would love to see the house being used as it is now, full of life, love and activity.

This property, on John Tree Hill Road, was built by Roy and Blanche Tate in the late '60's. It fronts the James River and has several ponds on the property. Roy was a businessman who also raised ponies, which he sold one by one to the neighborhood kids. As a result, all the neighborhood children learned to ride which made the community ripe for the establishment of Level Green Riding School more than a decade later. Roy kept his property looking like a golf course. He took lawn maintenance to a whole new level.

This is the Richardson family home. Mary Richardson and her husband, Ralph, lived here with their three children. Mary was extremely active in the community. She used to serve me butter and honey sandwiches when I was a little girl. When I became an adult and married many years later, she gave me a honey jar, wooden honey dipper and butter dish as a wedding gift. Very sweet, thoughtful woman. The Richardsons also used to host float parties down the James River, since their large property fronted the river.

This house was built in the late '60's, early '70's by Max Thompson for his wife and three children. It's on the James River, situated beside Level Green, a very popular horseback riding facility. The equestrian center was founded by the Betts family, but it was originally owned by Max Thompson's in-laws, the Jerveys.

I've always thought this was one of the most if not THE most beautiful home in Powhatan County. It's on a straight stretch of Rt. 711 (aka Huguenot Trail) and the property extends all the way to the James River. The Kennon family used to host wonderful Easter egg hunts on the grounds when we were children. The current owners are fantastic stewards of their family home and take great interest in historic preservation within their community.
