Volkswagan Dealer ship in Lakemore
Building Still located on northwest corner of Rt. 120 and Short St. in Lakemoor.
The micro bus in front is from the Thunderbird Farm Day Camp.
Import Motors of McHenry was located at 112-118 W. Rand Rd in Lakemoor near the corner of Hollywood Terrace. The dealership sold Volkswagon autos from 1960 to 1965 at this location. In July 1965, the dealership moved to Crystal Lake on Rte. 14 just west of Hwy. 31.
In 1957, this was the location of Brady & Kenney Mercury owned by Edmund Brady and Gordon Kenney. From 1966 to 1987, Goetell's Motor Sales and Service, dealership of economy cars and motor bikes operated out of the building. In 1990, G & M Motor Cars occupied the building.
When it was Goetell's,my dad and I would go there to buy parts for his Renault cars that he owned. Goetell's sold Renault and BMW's at this location. As well as Bridgestone mini bikes. Fun place for a kid to go with his dad!
