This was my Grandparents, Ivan and Dorothy Lestikow Farm on Dakota Road straight west of the High School.
The small chicken coop behind the house was already long gone by the early 1970s.
Dad (Larry) and Grandpa dropped the silo in the mid/late 1970s and Dad made the Hay Mow of the Barn into a dance floor where he played country music with a couple different bands that he was in.
Farm Ground was rented out to Mike Althoff.
The small patch of ground north of the corn crib behind the barn is where Dad had a small Threshing Show in 1969 to see how much local interest there was before getting together with Chris Johnson and Jack Schmertman and Founding the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club with its First Annual Show held at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds in Freeport Illinois the following year in 1970. The "Show Before the Sow" was held right here with threshing and baling and several antique tractors and engines on display by Dad and Chris and a few others.
dang typo's. . . That last line was supposed to be The "Show Before the Show" was held there. Don't see any way to go back and edit that.
