She would always give us a penny to put in the gumball machine by the doors. You had a choice of the round gumball machine (one gumball dispensed), or the Ford gumball machine which would give you two square "gumballs" for a penny. Of course there was the quarter machine with the toys, but we could never get mom to let loose some quarters...
